Vol. 1 135 Yang Xingli (Tianjin Normal University, China) A Comparative Study of the Forms of Poetry Theory of Tang and Five Dynasties and Russian Formalism The Forms of Poetry Theory of Tang and Five Dynasties is a form of poetic criticism in the study of Ancient Chinese poetic, which mainly focuses on the study of artistic forms of “modern style” poetry. To make it suitable for contemporary studies, the theoretical morphology should be reorganized. In this context, it has encountered with Russian Formalism. Despite of the different backgrounds of their creation, both of the Chinese one and Russian one shared the same achievement in Literary Studies. It benefits the further and thorough study of both Chinese and western poetics, especially when more attention is paid on the comparative study of literature concepts, theoretical claims and investigative topics.
