Nikitina’s research, the old man represents a priest functioning in a ritual. Seo Jeong-ju turns the originally text into a romantic story with the old man falling in love with Suro: Has he forgotten that she is someone else’s wife And about everything else? Of course, he did. He had only his feeling left Similar to what a flower feels when meeting another flower. <…> This interpretation putting the contents into an emotional content, takes the story out of the historical context, makes it actual for any epoch. The author includes in the text a literary link to our times: If to express it with contemporary language, He could only know and feel…. The poems about Chunhyang also mostly express the emotions of the main protagonists: the girl and her beloved. There are no emphasized stylizations of the language of the past. Possibly, there are the modes especially created by the author to make the language of the poem not specified and to highlight the common human traits in the characters in order to make them closer to contemporary reader. Notably, one of the features of the vernacular poetry belonging to the last stage of its development in pre-modern period — the poetry of Late Joseon — is a new representation of the well-known persons. Heroes and model persons of the past are depicted as common humans with weaknesses and emotions 1 . 2. Symbols, metaphors, citations and allusions This group demonstrates the more intentional usage in the texts. Despite the fact that prosaic works use allusions to traditional literature more actively than poetry, their role in poetical texts is also important. Let us view some certain examples. 1 Guryeva A.
