Firstly, there is no particular intensity in the works by Miyuki Miyabe: she smoothly describes the life of ordinary people in Japan, often in the middle of the book it is already possible to distinguish the criminal. In this regard, we can say that the author successfully reveals familiar to the readers’ topics and problems of Japanese society (loneliness, hikikomori, karoshi, debtors of the credit system), twisting them with a certain intrigue in the form of a mysterious murder. The Japanese reader is attracted by the hidden world of relations between men and women, parents and children, which describes the second in the ranking writer Ekuni Kaori. In turn, Yamamoto Fumio writes about more ordinary things — the relationship of spouses, unjustified expectations of marriage and the problem of choice. Hayashi Mariko follows them and shifts toward the problems of unmarried young women in their 30s. Thus, the Japanese reader still prefers literature, which reveals the issues of society with its external conflicts and internal family problems. Ivleva Regina (Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University, Russia) Historical Prose on the Example of S. Erdene’s Novel «Zanabazar» The greatness of the past is the basis of national self-knowledge. Historical prose has already paid great attention to the inner-self and is usually very philosophical. The heroes are often historical personages. The important feature of Mongolian novels is the psychological analyses of the characters. The main hero of S. Erdene’s «Zanabazar» is the real historical figure, a talented sculpture, artist and poet who invented a new alphabet — soyombo. His work of art still amaze admirers today by purely and the melodiousness of his lines. His exhibitions have been staged all over the world, acquaintancing international audience with Mongolian art. The hero of the novel Zanabazarwas was permanently striving for spiritual perfection. He devoted his life to Halha. Even when he was young he dreamed of building many tempels and guiding people on the path of kindness and compassion. For a period of time Mongolia became a peaceful religious country. But by the march of time everything changes and in the place of peace came trouble and turmoil. Even until his very last moment on earth he was thinking about Halha and hoping that after death his soul would return to his native land. The plot of the novel clearly shows how fleeting, complicated and often dramatic life is. But knowing all these we should strive for something eternal. Kindness, compassion, suffering, and love. We meet these words very often in this novel. For the author these are the main values.
