Miyuki Miyabe ( b. 1960) 1 is a Japanese writer, who is famous outside of Japan by her numerous novels and stories. She writes in the mass literature genres of sci- ence fiction, mystery fiction, social commentary, anime and manga. Miyuki Miyabe combines fiction and Japanese society realia, includes toponyms (Tokyo, Yokohama, Sendai) and reveals social issues in her stories. She writes about loneliness problem in the novel “R. P.G” (Role playing game, 2001). The feeling of uselessness in the family, the indifference of parents and friends pushes the main character, Kazumi Tokoroda. She kills her father, Ryosuke Tokoroda. On one hand, Ryosuke Tokoroda is a man attracted to younger women only when he feels needed. The feeling of need and passion for youth spurred him to the search for new partners. While the wife has not reached adulthood, and the daughter was still small, he was satisfied with his family. However, the real clash with problems, adolescence, misunderstanding with his daughter gave him a sense of uselessness to his family and prompted the search for another one. He successfully found a “new family” on the Internet and began to play the role of the father. In this regard, the original detective story was called “role play game”. In turn, the daughter started feeling loneliness: when she badly needed her father, he preferred the communicate with a virtual family and a virtual “daughter”. As a result, the jealousy, the feeling of loneliness and indifference, the misunderstanding of her mother and father relationship, knowledge about father`s constant philandering with schoolgirls and young women pushed Kazumi Tokoroda to the crime. Miyaki Miyabe covers the same topic of isolation and loneliness in the detective novel “The Level 7” (Reberu 7, 1990) 2 . Here she introduces the idea that Japanese people are trying to fight the indifference of others. Misao Kaibara, a young girl, one of the characters of this novel, has a prosperous family, but feels loneliness. Her mother is harsh and domineering, her father is busy at work, the school friends are ignorant. After her classmates` suicide Misao Kaibara turns into hikikomori , a representative of a young people generation, confined to themselves and leading a secluded lifestyle.
