Проблемы литератур Дальнего Востока. Часть 2

Литературы стран Дальнего Востока и ЮВА: прошлое и настоящее Issues of Far Eastern Literatures. Vol. 1. 2018 177 Hayashi Mariko (b. 1954) 1 is another popular writer, who describes the person- alities of contemporary working women in their 30 th and their desperate efforts to find life partners. Yamada Eime (b. in 1959) 2 is a contemporary and controversial writer of Japan, who speaks on interracial affairs. The writer reveals the dependence of young Japa- nese woman from a black military man called “Spoon” in the short story “Bedtime eyes” (Beddo taimu aizu, 1985) 3 . The main character, Kim, is unremarkable: she plays on stage in a dubious show, sells her body, lives by one day, drinks alcohol. She has no plans for the future, dreams, stable and good work. Probably, no education. The writer says nothing about the money she earns for living and renting an apartment. Spoon turns into the meaning of her existence. The girl is attracted to his body and its smell, she suffers from being beaten by him, meets her former lovers to follow the instincts. Kim does not think about her life, but lives in lust. Spoon, in turn, does not take Kim seriously. She provides a shelter for him, where he hides from the police and spends a good time. After being arrested he lives nothing valuable, except for dirty sheets, some hair and a spoons, which he carried for luck. Yamada Eimi shows another type of Japanese young girl, who this time enjoys the men dependence from her, in the short story “The piano players` fingers” (Yubi no zare, 1986) 4 . Ruiko humiliates men and gets pleasure from it. Once she managed to make the black pianist Leroy Jones loose his personality. He goes abroad and comes to Japan to take a revenge, but accidentally dies in a fight with Ruiko. Ruiko is different from Kim by her attitude toward men, but they share the same in their lifestyle — no good job, education, plans for the future. The writer shows the result of the relationship between Japanese girls and black men in the short story “Jessie’s Spine” (Jessie no sebone, 1986) 5 . Yamada Eimi introduces the half-blood boy, whose mother is not ready to accept him and take to her family and life. She visits the boy, plays a role of “mother” and does nothing. The new woman of Jessie`s father tries to become friends with him and acts more like mother, but boy rejects her. Thus, based on the analysis of the works of five popular Japanese writers, we can identify topics and problems of Japanese literature that readers are interested in. On one hand, Miyuki Miyabe seems to become the top writer in the ranking due to the successfully selected genres.
