Korobova Anastasia (IFES RAS, Russia) Criticism of Wang Anshi`s Poetry in “Poetry Talks” 䀾䁆 (the Case of “Poetry Talks of Shilin” by Ye Mende) Shi hua 䂙䂡 (“poetry talks”) is one of the sources of Chinese poetry criticism emerged in the Song Dynasty. The first work of shi hua is considered to be “Poetry talks from the hermit Liu-yi” (1071) ޝ а䂙䂡 by Ouyang Xiu (1007–1072). Originally the majority of early shi hua was a casual collection of fragmentary episodes about poets and random thoughts on poetry, sometime with quotations and discussions about correctness or preciseness of concrete hieroglyphs in lines. Later on authors of shi hua started to give critical evaluation to poets and to poetry in general, the process of composing poetry, etc. In this paper I will examine one shi hua entitled “Shilin Shi hua” (Poetry Talks by Shilin) composed by Ye Mengde (1077–1159), in particular, special emphasis is put on his evaluation and comments of Wang Anshi`s (1021–1086) poetry. Though Wang Anshi was blamed for his reforms by the traditional Chinese historiography, and the complete collection of his works was not published till the middle of the 12 th century, his name, quotation of his poems and positive critical evaluation of his poetry is often to be met in the Song shi hua. It drives us to the conclusion that his life, his political activity and his literary works continued to be in the focus of attention of China's intellectual elite during the 11–13 th centuries,
